At Sarnath, in the third century BCE, Emperor Ashoka raised a polished sandstone column crowned by four lions seated back to back — facing north, south, east and west. Beneath them, an abacus carved with the Dharma Chakra and the four noble animals: the lion, the elephant, the bull and the galloping horse.
Simhastambha is our interpretation of that Mauryan sculpture, rendered in miniature for the lapel. Not a replica — a study in line and proportion, finished in deep red enamel against gold tone.
An heirloom piece for the bandhgala, the blazer, the wedding sherwani. Presented in the Albetro rosewood gift box.
- Gold-tone brass with hard enamel
- Secure butterfly clutch backing
- Presented in Albetro rosewood gift box
- Handcrafted in India
Inspired by the Lion Capital at Sarnath, an archaeological artefact of the Mauryan period, now held at the Sarnath Museum. An artistic interpretation, not a replica. Not the State Emblem of India.
